Short Skirt/Long Jacket

Happy Friday!  I don’t know about you but I am ready for the weekend.  After traveling last weekend I am looking forward to spending some time at home, running errands, and catching up with friends.  I also need to start in on my annual goal to actually see the majority of the movies nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.  I almost always fail, but I am planning to start with The Ides of March this weekend.

Anyway, I have already broken my “no shopping” in the new year “resolution.”  Being home with Mom (The Enabler) and a trip to TJ’s last weekend was just too much and I buckled under the pressure .  I also bought a maxi skirt from Old Navy after reading a post on the awesome fashion blog Something to Smile About last week.  I received the skirt from ON yesterday and think its a bust (boo!) but I was so excited by the prospect of the maxi I am going to have to find an alternative.

So, while I have been waiting for the maxi to arrive I was checking out a lot of styling tips and outfit ideas.  What I liked about the skirt I ordered is that it was chiffon so while I could wear it right away I could also take it into the Spring.  Here are some of the outfits I was inspired by and my ideas for styling a skirt, both now and later.
